Dr. Richard Davenport, president of Minnesota State University–Mankato, talks with us this week about new ways of thinking about higher education. How do we design education for rural students that meets their needs and helps them stay in rural communities?
I was especially interested to read this article from the National Rural Education Association, “Multiple Points of Contact: Promoting Rural Postsecondary Preparation through School-Community Partnerships”. The issue of sending our best and brightest off to college, creating a community “brain drain”, is especially intriguing!
Yikes! I forgot to provide the link to the NREA article! http://www.nrea.net/filestore/NREAWinter34-2.100813.pdf
